Hi, it is possible to save a single slide as a pdf?  Followed instructions from another forum post but they did not work.  The entire file (all the slides) was saved not just the slide I had selected.  Thanks for any help.

    I don't mean to take the food out of Rich's mouth :-) but I'm not sure what he means by "PDF format problem". PPT 2011 most definitely does save to PDF format, whether using Save As or Save as Pictures from the File menu or using File> Print - PDF. For what you've described wanting to do there are at least 2 methods:

    Method 1

    • To create the single slide file;
    1. Open a new blank presentation
    2. Delete the default Title Slide
    3. Go to Insert> Slides From> Other Presentation
    4. Navigate to & select the file containing the slide you want
    5. In the Choose a File dialog confirm that Select slides to insert is the option chosen (lower left corner of the dialog)
    6. In the Slide Finder, select the slide you want
    7. Make sure Keep the design of original slides is checked
    8. Click Insert
    9. Click Close

    [Alternatively, you can copy the slide then Paste to a new file but that may not provide the same result.]

    • To create a PDF from the new file;
    1. Go to File> Save as Pictures
    2. Enter a Name & Location
    3. Select PDF from the upper section of the Format: dropdown
    4. Click Save

    Method 2

    1. In the existing file, select the slide you want
    2. Go to File> Print
    3. Choose the Selected Slides option
    4. Select any other Print options as preferred
    5. Click the PDF button
    6. Select Save as PDF
    7. Specify Name & Location
    8. Click Save

    Method 2 will have a white border surrounding the slide content. However, you probably can tweak the other Print settings to avoid that if you wish, depending on the printer.

    BTW, in case anyone has the bright idea of hiding all but the slide you want to save to PDF, I tried it.  It doesn't work, unfortunately.

    The adage "between a rock and a hard place" comes to mind when reading your inquiry.

    PPT 2011 does not export pictures of slides selectively and more significantly to your specs... PPT 2011 does not export any slides to a PDF picture format. You could overcome the selective export by just creating a new file from the one slide, but that leaves the PDF format problem as the unresolved issue.

    All is not lost if both those items are required (selective & PDF) but you have to use a 3rd party add-in. It happens to be one created by me. However, here comes that rock again... the FREE version of the add-in does not do PDF, only the paid version does.

    You can rent the software by the month and it would only cost you $8.00 US but you have to decide if that is worth it for one slide image.

    Here's a screen clip of the Create image file dialog from the add-in.

    You didn't mention in the other forum post that you were on a Mac.

    PDF in particular is one of those things that's very different between the two versions.

    So which do you use?
