I can create animations just fine, but the animation painter remains grayed out. I've not been able to use this feature. Can you tell me why and/or how to turn it on? Thanks. Windows 7. PowerPoint 2010 office edition.

I take that back. Indeed, an "animated" object was not selected. Thank you for your insightful -- and obvious now to me -- help.
Yes, I do. I'm pretty fluent with PowerPoint, but have always been frustrated that this key feature doesn't work.
