You can! Highlight the Arabic text and go to fonts and choose "KufiStandardGK"
It will still be RTL, but at least it's readable now :)
Enjoy!

Hi,
After spending some time searching the web, I found out that this problem has been around for a long time with no solution. Writing in Arabic depends on connecting some letters. For example, to write my name I use the letters ن ا ص ر but the first two and the last two have to be connected نا صر . Microsoft Office has been always supporting arabic language in their products for Windows. They also support the language in PowerPoint for Mac. Arabic writing in PowerPoint for Mac is functioning very well. Outlook for Mac is also connecting the letters but with one problem that the indicator is not moving as I write.
I am very optimistic that the problem can be solved in Word and Excel as well. If it works with PowerPoint and Outlook, what is it that makes it not working with other Office applications?
Thank you,

Well, it isn't just a matter of flipping a switch :-) Remember that RTL Language Support is OS-based. Microsoft owns & has full access to the Windows OS, but OS X is Apple's. Adding RTL capability to the products in the Mac Office suite is a costly investment which would further entail rewriting much of the existing code. I'm sure that once Microsoft is convinced that the return on that investment would make it worth their while that it will be done. Until then there isn't any 'solution' because the RTL functionality just isn't there. [Why RTL appears to be 'partially' supported in PPT I have no idea.]

I tried a simple way of writing a word in arabic in PPT Mac and then copy and paste in word. It worked perfectly and I could continue writing after that. The only thing you need to do the first step first
Please see this youtube video which describes a ver simple solution for this problem:
then i should sell my mac and buy windows pc. apple if you read this, you have just lost a customer and i will make sure that all my connections will know of this issue.
