Word will only let me type capital letters even with the caps lock off

All of a sudden after I pressed caps lock and the Shift key together my word document can only be typed in capital letters. Nothing I do will remove the capital letters.  I'm in the middle of an online graduate class and have already typed 66 pages of papers and replies. I do not want to start over.  Can anyone help me?

Perhaps you have applied the All Caps font property. Ctrl+Shift+A should remove it, or you can right-click, choose Font..., and clear the check box.

Another possibility is that the font in use has only uppercase, but that is unlikely in your situation.

If the text really has been typed using Caps Lock, then you can use Shift+F3to change case; if you don't get the desired case by repeatedly pressing Shift+F3 (which cycles through three choices that vary depending on the text selected), use the Change Case button in the Font group of the Home tab.

Yes!  Some how I must have hit all three keys at once accidently.  Thank you so much for your help. I had copied and pasted to another document, but I really wanted to use the orignial document supplied by the college. Thank you again.

    Suzanne,

After looking and looking for an answer to the keyboard typing in caps even though caps was not on, I was fortunate enough to find your answer.  I was hitting the control shift A accidentally and thus turning it all to caps.  Thank you for a concise, to the point explanation.  Those keystroke combinations that you don't mean to do can cause a lot of havoc.  Thank you again.
