OneNote Ink to Text does nothing

I am using a GPEN200 to save my notes and import them into onenote.

The text imports fine as ink and I am able to select "Convert ink to text" but nothing happens (no messages, it doesn't slow down or anything, its seemingly does nothing). I know this process should work since I used to do it all the time in onenote 2007.

Does anyone have any ideas why the conversion is not working?Office and Windows 64x, Language Setting: English (UK)

Pasting or importing ink into OneNote isn't going to be recognized as text.  OneNote's text recognition engine doesn't work on the ink, it works on the pen strokes.  You have to write the ink IN OneNote for it to be convertible to text.

If the Ink is especially clear, you *might* be able to OCR it and still search it, just like any other inserted picture.

I've been having the same exact problem but I figured it out!

When you select your pen (it will pop up with several colors) on the bottom of that menu list it will say "Pen Mode". Select that and it will give you three options either create both handwriting and drawings, creating drawings only, or create both handwriting and drawings. Once I selected handwriting it worked perfectly!

    Hi,

Just a few minutes after posting, managed to get it working.

Not sure what part of this made it work so listing everything that i did in the last 10 minutes.

On the ipad, left only one keyboard (deleted swiftkey and spanish keyboard), then power it off and on.

On the computer, went to control panel, Region and language, change keyboard, and left only one keyboard (same left in the ipad, English US).

On OneNote (PC) on Language, also left only English US as only keyboard. Closed all MS applications and launched again.

Now if I write ink on the ipad, i can successfully turn it to text (on the PC), but only new ink, If i try to turn anything previously written it doesn't work.

    Hope this helps you guys.

Try changing your default language to US - system settings => regional and language => Lang => add English (US) => set as default.  And presto, mine now works.

I tried all of it:   going to "Control Panel" and enable Ink correction; changing input language; and also using Draw > Pen > Handwriting only.   But still does work only to convert to math.  I'm usin also as input device my PC, and not from Tablet.      Any other suggestion?  I'l  appreciate
