How do I insert an object into a specific cell in an EXCEL worksheet?  When I put my cursor in a cell, click in INSERT, OBJECT, CREATE FROM FILE, the object initially inserts into that cell. However, if I modify the worksheet (hida, and unhide), the object moves out of the cell, and "floats" around the worksheet.

You cannot insert an object into a cell............just lay it on top.

If you size the object small enough that it fits entirely within the cell boundaries you can get it to stay there in most situations.

If you select the cell you want to insert the object in and insert in the usual way.  Then right click on the object and select format object -> properties -> and select 'move and size with cell' within the object positioning section this should ensure the object is hidden when you hide rows, or moves appropriately when you insert/delete rows.

When I click 'insert', I do not have an option to insert an "object" ...

have done this many times with other documents, but for some reason, in EXCEL, "Object" is not something available to me to select.
