Delay when Advance to Next Slide is clicked

In Presenter view when I click on the right arrow button titled "Advance to next slide" there is a delay of up to 6 seconds before the slide changes. There are no timings set. Even when there is a very simple pptx created with no graphics and 7 slides the delay still happens! When you click on the Next Slide preview, press the space bar or the Enter key the slide changes right away! This is a new copy of Office 2013 on a Dell Latitude D830 with a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro 32 bit. Adding more RAM does not help. I've also gotten this on a Win 8 64 bit laptop and two Win 7 desktops!

I had the same problem, one solution I did was unchecked "use presenter view". Then the presentation ran smoothly without the presenter view :)

anyway, still if the problem on presenter view can be solved will help a lot!

Unfortunately, I only have 2013 on one system to test with.

FWIW, it's a virtual Win8 instance that's been allocated a single i7 core, 2gb of RAM, so it's no tower of power.  The graphics system (also virtual) is fairly basic.

I wonder if you're seeing a graphics issue.  Try this:

SLIDE SHOW | Set Up | Set Up Slide Show

Put a check next to "Disable hardware graphics acceleration"

Try running the show to see if that helps.

Go back to the same dialog and try changing the resolution to a lower value, say 800x600.

Run the show, see if that helps.

    Let us know the results.

As an update to my original post, I've discovered that by clicking on the Next Slide arrow "button" and immediately moving the mouse cursor away from the button allows the slide to change with no delay. It is almost as if PowerPoint expects you to use a touch screen and by leaving the mouse cursor over the button holds things up. Also need to report that this issue applies to a 64 BIT OS (Win7) and the 64 BIT version of Office 2013.

    Hi,

As I understand, when you are in the presenter view and click on the arrow mark to advance to next slide it shows a delay to advance to next slide but if you press enter or spacebar it works fine.

Follow the steps mentioned and check if it helps:

Step1: Disable the add-ins in PowerPoint:

    ·         Open PowerPoint, click on File< Options< Add-ins.

    ·         Under Manage select COM Add-ins.

    ·         Click on GO options beside Manage, uncheck all the add-ins and click Ok.

    ·         Open PowerPoint and check if it works fine.

Step 2: Boot the system in clean boot:

Clean boot is performed to disable all startup programs and 3rd party services on the machine and check if they are conflicting with the Office program.

Refer to the link mentioned to boot the system in clean boot:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After checking in clean boot ensure to reboot the system in normal mode which is explained in the same article.

If PowerPoint presentation works fine in clean boot then follow the complete article, perform advanced clean boot to check which program is causing the conflict. Once you have found the problem program, contact appropriate technical support team to update the program.

I hope this fixes the issue. If you need further assistance let us know and we will be glad to assist you.

    Thank you.

Neither step helped. There were no COM add ins enabled. There were few non Microsoft services enabled. I did disable the four services, Adobe up daters and video services, which were not started to begin with. Also checked and reset the system BIOS to factory defaults.

As all the PC's I've had this problem with are older machines, I was wondering if the minimum system requirements for Office 2013 are set too low? Office 2007 works just fine on these machines! I still feel that there is a bug in 2013.

    Bill
