No "freeze pane" option in Excel

Under the View tab, I have a Freeze Panes drop down with the following options: Unfreeze Panes, Freeze Top Row, and Freeze First Column. I do NOT have a Freeze Pane option. This presents a problem because I want to freeze both the top row and the first column but Excel only allows one or the other at a time.

I find this inconsistent with other users' options... Not sure why, please help

That sounded like you already have an active "frozen pane" somehow. Try clicking Unfreeze Panes and see if Freeze Pane comes back as a choice.
