is there a way to edit existing caption label?

    If you are saying that you want to replace all captions of a certain type with another type of caption, selecting an existing caption and then applying your new caption should do the trick. Word assumes that the change you are making should apply to all captions of the selected type.

    To get rid of the existing table of figures, just select and delete it.

    In the Caption dialog box, just delete the caption you want to get rid of and then create a new one using the New Label button.

    Just in case, be sure not to select an existing caption in the document before deleting and adding captions in the dialog box.

    the problem is that the captions are alredy exist in the document and are linked to a table of figures.
