Is there a way to format a cell to match another cell on a different sheet despite the different values? Excel 2010

Hello All!

So I've been struggling with just one small part of my excel workbook. I need a cell to match the formatting of the background color and font color of another cell. They have different values. The colors indicate the experiment type. So if B3 on Sheet1 is black with white font then I would like C2 on Sheet2 to also be black with white font. Or Yellow with black font, etc. But the values need to be able to stay different. Is there some magic formula that all my googling cannot find? Or is it something that I am missing on the conditional formatting? I'm not afraid to use VBA but I have only used it for time macros. Nothing extensive. I look forward to hearing the suggestions and answers. Thank you!

Edit (6/8/15)

Perhaps I need to be a bit more specific. I would like this to automatically change. I understand how to format the cell to match it. Cell B3 on Sheet1 is formatted to change color and font color based on the value in the cell. This indicated the experiment type. I need another cell (C2) on a different sheet (Sheet2) to change when this one does. B3 and C2 have different values in them. Is there a formula or way to do this without the manual formatting?

Hi,

Try this

  1. Copy cell B3 of sheet1
  2. Select cell C2 of sheet2, right click > Paste Special > Formats > OK

Hope this helps.
