print multiple pages on one sheet

I have created a document with pages sized 4.25" x 5.5".  I would like to print four of each page on regular 8.5" x 11" paper and then cut into four separate pages, thus creating four booklets at one printing.  Because I have set mirror margins, it's not working to copy and paste each page into labels (note cards).  I'm also trying to preserve the page numbers.  I tried to print pages 1,1,1,1 as described in another question, but then I have to change the page size and all of the formatting is messed up.  Any help will be appreciated.

Word itself doesn't offer a way to do what you ask, though there may be a setting in your printer Properties that would allow it, or you could accomplish this with a small document in Publisher, which can print small documents (such as individual business cards) multiple times on a sheet.

As described in http://wordfaqs.mvps.org/2PagesPerSheet.htm, Word offers two ways to print multiple pages. The "pages per sheet" setting in the Print dialog reduces a full-sized page to print 2, 4, or more copies on a single page of the same size. The "2 pages per sheet" setting in the Page Setup dialog allows you to create half-sized pages and print them on a single sheet. Neither of these will do what you want.

If your printer can accommodate "Statement"-sized paper (5.5" x 8.5"), then you could use "Book fold" to set up your document as a booklet and print it on the smaller paper (even if you have to cut the paper to size yourself). This would actually work better than trying to print and cut and staple individual pages. The referenced article also describes booklet setup.

I am not sure that I follow exactly what you are after, but I would start with the Microsoft 1/4 Letter label (Mailings Tab>Create>Labels) and click on the New Document button, then put the cursor in the last label on the sheet and press the Tab key three times, so that you have two pages, each with four labels and the arrange you content as required in the cells of the table and then duplex print the first two pages of the document.

I have a similar but different question  along these lines

Am setting up Christmas Cards inserts to print on a vertical 8.5 x 11 paper.  I'm looking for two sided pages with two Cards per physical page

Each card to be in 4 sides to look  something like this:

Top half of each 8.5 x 11 to be in the front format

Pg2 and   Pg 3 and the reverse side to be Pg 4 and then Pg 1

The bottom half of the physical page would be identical

When it printed, I would cut the physical pages in half,  and then fold each half so that they form a "brochure" to be inserted into conventional Christmas Cards

    Any Thoughts?
