Words bumps bottom line text to next page or column when printing

Every time I try to print (either to printer or PDF), if I have text on the lowest line of a page - even though the print preview looks fine - it bumps that line to the next page which throws off my whole document, especially if I'm using multiple columns and pages. This has happened to me on two different computers both running Word 2016. I can compensate by moving what would be the top line of a column over to the bottom of the previous column, but that is a really cumbersome way to work. Having called Microsoft support, the person told me that Word is set up to not allow me to type on the lowest line, which can't possibly be true - I always have before. This is not an issue with page size or printer as it happens on PDF print as well. Any help would be appreciated.

Are those fonts installed on the computer?

If you save as pdf does the issue occur?  If not, a work around would be to do that and the print from Adobe Reader.

Another thing that you might try with a one page document, is to add the Shrink One Page item from the All Commands group to the Quick Access Toolbar and use that before printing.

Of course, 0.17" is quite a small margin and maybe something that your printer cannot handle, at least with the present driver.  A number of makes of printers (HP is one) need updated drivers every time Microsoft blinks.

On the Layout tab of the Page Setup dialog, try setting the distance of the Header and the Footer from the edge of the page to 0.

If you use CTRL+A and then press F9, does the last line of text move to the next page?

Setting header and footer to 0 did NOT help.

If I use CTRL-A and then press F9 the last line of text does NOT move to the next page.

That did not solve the issue. It seems to offer me minimum margins of .17 inches on all four sides. That's my current setting. I also tried .25 inch margins with the same result - text keeps bumping down.

    Hi,

We understand how you feel about the situation. Let me guide you to resolve the issue.

I suggest you to set maximum marginal inches by following the below instructions and check if it helps.

How to set maximum marginal inches:

Open Notepad Go to File>Page setup>Marginal inches change the count to 0, then it displays the maximum number.

Set the same in word and check if it helps.

Please reply with the status of the issue so that we can help you better.

    Thank you.
