Split from this thread.

I just purchased a new laptop.  I am not into big word programs or excel, etc.  All I want is to be able to create a word document.

Can I install my office 2000 on windows 10?

I paid good money for Office 2000, had a "geek support" outfit install Windows 10—thought nothing of it—then after 30 days had passed, and I hated it, I found out I could not change back to Windows 7!

I have the original CD installation discs and CD key and can not install/even play the CDs!

I JUST want WORD and maybe, later do some desktop publishing.

I know all about Libre Office but, I can't believe that Microsoft does not stand behind its products.

Since Office 2000 is now out of support (after all, it is 17 years old), there isn't much you can do. The company which upgraded your computer to Windows 10 for you should have told you that you only had 30 days to go back to Windows 7.

If you are saying that Office 2010 was included when you first purchased your computer, you can restore the computer to factory defaults, of course.

You could try the Compatibility Troubleshooter, if you haven't already done that. But, as Paul wrote, Office 2000 isn't officially supported on Windows 10, so you can't expect it to work properly.

Thank you for taking the time to help me out. I am well into my 60's and didn't think I would have to spend so much time troubleshooting! I lost Office 2010 when I "restored" my computer after months of going from what was a hardware to software problems that even had me resorting to entering my password using the keyboard on the screen and a cursor…then I was told I needed another keyboard…then I installed a new "driver" about 14 times... So, now I apparently can't print a darn thing!  Hehe. Thanks again, from Toronto.

Which option did you choose specifically? Note that "resetting" Windows 10 using the Settings app may wipe all of your installed programs, including but not limited to Office programs.
