Microsoft Office 2007 not working with Windows 10

I have had Windows Office 2007 installed on my Windows 8.1 machine for over a year now.

When I upgraded to Windows 10 all office functionality stopped. Double clicking on any office file gave the same message as double clicking on the main program file in the Office 12 folder

I can find the file but windows can't. I then uninstalled Office 2007 and reinstalled. No change. I repeated the installation. No change.

I rolled back to windows 8.1. Everything worked again perfectly. Under Win8.1 I uninstalled Office 2007. Then upgraded to Win 10 again and reinstalled Office. Still the same message.

All help I can find online refers to Win 7 and Office 2013 problems. Mine seems to be the only Win 8.1 and office 2007 problem.

Any suggestions for a fix will be greatly appreciated.

You cannot reinstall Office 2007 unless you have the retail Key

And if office 2013 is installed and functioning you probably wouldn't want to install 2007 as well

Only the single instance of MS Outlook can be installed

OK......problem solved for the 2013 installation. Haven't tried it for the original Office 2007 but looking at symptoms and solution, it would work.

    1)Uninstall all office application.

    1. Open registry and search for microsoft office.
    2. Delete all entries found.
    3. Save and restart.
    4. Reinstall microsoft office and register.

Hope it works for you like it worked for me.

Still no responses or assistance. I am trying to get a version of office 2013 form work to see if its just the Office 2007. Will let you know what happened. Otherwise going to have to roll back to Win 8.1 again just so I can use my office docs.

Yes, it shows in Programs and Features and can also be found using explorer.

Uninstalled, restarted, reinstalled, restarted and from original installation media.

No retail key, so download from website not possible.

I have given it to the techs at work and they have done the same and also get the same result. Then we tried Office 2010 and this gave exactly the same result. He has office 2013 installed so tried that on my pc with the same result. Exactly the same message. He then uninstalled and reinstalled but without activating and the program works with no problem as an unactivated copy. His hypothesis is that since there is a previous version activated on the PC its not recognising anything new. He is in the process of cleaning the registry of any previous registration and then will try again. Will keep you posted on the success or not of that measure.

And in Programs & Features is Office shown?

    And if so you uninstalled Office, restarted the PC then;

And did you reinstall Office 2007 from your original installation media?

Or here if you have a retail Key
