Word Save As on Mac doesn't show all folders available in Documents, only Documents

I have Office 365 2016 for Mac installed on a computer that didn't have Office 2011 installed.  In Word, when I select Save As, it only shows Desktop, Documents, Downloads, etc. as options.  When I click Documents it doesn't show the complele llist of all documents so that I can decide where to save the file.

I have Office 365 2016 installed on a Mac where I previously had Office 365 2011 installed.  When I click Save As it shows a complete list of everything, looks similar to Finder.  So I can decide the Folder in Documents where I want to save the Word document.

Please let me know how to fix Office 2016 so that it also shows all the folders in Documents when I select Save As.

This did not solve the problem.  However, when I looked again I couldn't believe how easy it was to solve.

    1.  Save As
    2.  Click On My Mac button
    3.  On the top, to the right of the box where you type in the file name, click the down carat and the panel opens up so that it looks like Finder.

By the way, I am an IT professional with many years of Microsoft experience, including Windows 8.1 on the original Surface Pro.

I recently (last year) switched to MacBook Pro Retina, and now have replaced my Surface with small MacBook Air.

The Mac is elegant, everything works, and it is easy to use.  I like the Unix based file structure very much.

Because I expect everything to work all the time I was surprised that I had this problem.  And I am very embarrassed that it was so easy to fix.

If you have Apple Care, they will sign on to your computer remotely.  The great thing about Apple support - they can't change anything.  They will look around and show you what to do.

Apple's design is elegant and minimalist.

The problem is not related to Office.  It can show up anytime you try to save a file.

    Two suggestions.

    1.  In Finder, you should see categories such as Favorites and Devices (depending on what you have selected in preferences).  Hover over Favorites - it should say Hide. If it says Show, then click Show and you will see all of your folders (all of the ones you selected in Finder-->Preferences).
    2.  When saving a file, at the top of the pop-up window you will see this:

Notice the caret to the right of the Save As Box.  When it is pointed up, as in the screen shot, all your folders will be displayed.

If it points down, they won't all be displayed.

Just click on the caret so it points up.

    Good luck!

Thank you so much!  It is an easy fix, but if it was difficult for you to find, think of how difficult it was for those of us who are new to MAC to find!!

Ok im not really sure why everyone's answer is so convoluted, haha! There is a small , arrow like button next to "Save as". (NOT on your drop down menu. I'm talking about the "Save as:  " where you would insert the title of your document after you go to save it.) That little downward arrow will allow you to save it anywhere.

I know, its confusing because common sense would indicate that this little drop down arrow would be located next to the "Where" box. Took me a minute.

Click little button to the right of the file name in the Save As dialog to expand the dialog and see the entire file structure.
