Set onenote default email client to windows email app for surface pro 3

Hello,

I have Office 365 installed on my surface pro 3.  I wanted to send onenote notes via the Windows live email account.  Everytime I select the "send email" button from onenote, the error message of,"outlook is not configured...set default email program".  I do not want outlook to send the emails.  Just the windows live app to send the emails.

I already set Windows email as the default app in the settings on the surface pro, but I still keep getting the message, "Outlook is not configured...."

Can you help me get Onenote to work with Windows live email app?

    What you call Windows Mail is the Mail App from the Windows Store.

    You cannot use this app as default mail client for the desktop environment, e.g. Office.

    For this environment you need a so called MAPI compliant mail client, like Outlook or the free Windows Live Mail.

    With the Onenote App from the Windows Store you can use the Mail App (Share from the Hamburger menu).

    Do you mean Windows Live Mail ?

    • So with the desktop onenote program, I can only use Outlook?
    • With the onenote app from the microsoft store I can use the mail app?

    Thanks for your response!

    I was mistaken, I don't think that it was Windows Live Email.  It just appears to be Windows Mail in Windows 10.  Here is the screen shot of the default programs:

    I selected the "Set this program as default", but could not make changes when I went into the, "Choose defaults for this program".  Can you offer some more insights?

    I still did not get the Windows Mail to open up in Onenote.
