Upgrade Office 2003 to 2007

I had a free upgrade of Office 2003 to 2007 when I bought my PC in 2007. I could install the upgrade at that time (I had a 2007 product key). At the time, it was on Vista. Everything worked well with the Windows 10 upgrade.

I recently had to reformat my hard drive. Without the CD for 2007, I reinstalled Office 2003. I tried to download 2007 with the product key I have, but I see an error message for the key. Without the upgrade, I cannot open any file saved in 2007 format. How can I make this upgrade?

Thanks in advance.

So the Key wasn't verified on that MS site?

If that's the case and you failed to keep a copy of the original set up file you are up the proverbial creek without a paddle.

You should always download/save to ensure you have the setup file, before running it.

Only third party sites now have old/used stock of 2007 or 2010 and its a case of buyer beware

If the 2007 key is not verified here it means its an upgrade key, and to install 2007 you would need the original install media

Thank for your answer. But the problem is precisely that there was no original media. I had (and still have) the CD for 2003, but I was instructed to download the 2007 upgrade.
