In Powerpoint 2010 under Windows 10 on my new Asus Laptop I'm trying to insert several audio clips. Some I've inserted in some of the slides, but one of them won't work. When I play it in Windows Explorer it plays fine, but when I try to insert it into a slide Powerpoint things I'm inserting a Video file!?! I go back and click on it in Explorer and it works fine. I've rebooted my computer and reopened Powerpoint and get the same thing. I tried deleting that slide and redoing it and the same thing happens. Anyone have an idea?

    Hi,

    Nice to meet you!

Can you tell me the format of your audio file? PowerPoint does not support all audio files. You may try to convert your audio file into MP3 format and insert it again to check whether it works or not.

You can click hereto convert the file online for free.

    Thank You!

Conversion to MP3 isn't the problem. It's a .wav file that must be compatible with PowerPoint since there are several other .wav files in the presentation. It's only one that doesn't work. When I try to insert it, PowerPoint thinks it's an video file and says it can't insert it.

I discovered the problem. One of the .wav files in the presentation I'd edited using PowerPoint's "trim" function under the Audio Tools Playback menu. Apparently that caused something to happen I don't completely understand because it worked on one computer but when I transferred it to another via a memory stick, that one individual slide would not operate.
