How do I create a new label format that I can then use in a Mail-Merge?

I want to create a new Label template that I can then use in Mail-Merge

I want the labels to be on A4 size paper, 2 columns and 9 rows with each label being 2.5 cm x 7.6 cm

Using the Mailings, Labels, Options then New Label selections, I then enter the following parameters

Label Name MYLABELS

Label height 2.5 cm

Label width 7.6 cm

Number across 2

Number down 9

Top Margin 2.0 cm

Side Margin 2.0 cm

Vertical pitch 26.69 cm (A4 size default)

Horizontal pitch 21 cm (A4 size default)

However on Clicking OK, I get the following message;

'The margins, label size and number across or down values produce a page that is larger than the label page size'

I don't understand the error message.  Using 2.5 x 7.6 label size in 2 columns of 9, I cannot see how this exceeds the label paper size

i.e. 2 (number of columns) x 7.6 (label width) + 2 x 2.0 (Side Margins), only comes to a total required width of 19.2 cm

and 9 (number of rows) x 2.5 (label height) + 2 x 2.0 (Top/Bottom Margins), only comes to a total required length of 26.5 cm

Both of these calculated width/length are less than the paper size width/length sizes of 21.0/26.69.

Would you be kind enough to advise what acceptable parameters I have to enter to get my required Label template.

Many thanks

Ian

The measurements you've given for the vertical pitch and horizontal pitch must be wrong -- each of them is as large as the entire page dimension. The vertical pitch (as shown in the Preview picture in the dialog) is the distance from the top of one label to the top of the label immediately below it. Similarly, the horizontal pitch is the distance from the left edge of one label to the left edge of the label next to it. Typically these are just a millimeter or two larger than the corresponding dimension of one label, not of the whole sheet.

Measure the distances on an actual label sheet and enter those.
