I have no plan on using office to upload to a web server. So why do I have this weird task bar tray icon? Can I get rid of it? How?

If you are not using OneDrive why get yourself distracted by something which will not be used and is not consuming any resources?

Your win/office installation is full of files/processes that may not be used, in your specific circumstances

Use SETACL.exe to set DENY access to the READ permission for the local USERS group on C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office16\MSOSYNC.EXE

Deleting MSOUC.EXE and all of its registry entries doesn’t fix the problem, I don’t have Office 365 installed but I do have the free OneNote which it keeps recreating the file and all of its registry entries, it checks with Microsoft Server and reinstall it right back, I wasted a couple of hours deleting MSOUC.EXE registry entries and at the end I was defeated. It is totally useless and to be honest a lot of programmers at Microsoft no longer think straight, they take the easy way out at the expense of the user time and resources.

But I have an idea, I am going to disable it from the Firewall and let’s see how it goes, please stand by…

    I have a great idea.

How about Microsoft learns how to suck less.

I mean really. There is a setting that does not work to disable the icon that is completely disregarded, by design, I assume.

Not to mention, that just to post this comment, I had to sign in with my "work" account, then was told that I don't have access, but my "personal" account does! And here is the best part!!!

They are the same email address!!!!

    Go micro$oft!

Way to put out, possibly the worst products on the market and slam them down everyone's throat with no way to even cope with the aftermath. Possibly with registry hacks? Is THAT really your answer?

    What a joke.

I also need to get rid of this. I use office behind a corporate firewall and get multiple prompts to sign in. MUC needs to either go away, or provide a way to read the proxy settings in IE.
