I no longer have the option in Paste Special called Paste Picture when I attempt to paste my picture image using Word 2016. It is available in Office for Mac 2011.

Is this an known issue or just a known limitation for Office for MAC 2016?? If this is a known limitation, can I still go back and install Office for MAC 2011 and remove 2016? I have El Capitan for MAC. Let me know please. Thanks!

I'm in tune with John on this...

When you Copy, it's the source program in combination with the OS that determines what variants are placed on the Clipboard [a service of the OS].

When you go to Paste, the program being used assesses what's being presented on the Clipboard & in which ways it can interpret that information.

The 'change' you're experiencing could be due to a difference in either or all of the 3 participants -- Source data format, Target program interpretation, OS Clipboard management.

As a wild guess, it also may be the file type of the document you're attempting to paste into. It appears that O2016 has taken another giant step forward in the effort to fully deprecate the old .doc file type. If you happen to be using it, see if you have a different experience when using a .docx file.

It sounds like Word is not detecting the clipboard data as a picture file. When I copy a PNG, my Paste Special options are PDF, Picture (PNG), Picture (TIFF), Picture (JPEG) and Microsoft Office Graphic Object.

From what I've read, the format is more similar to Microsoft Project or Visio than Illustrator or PhotoShop. Here is MindJet's page about exporting as different formats: Export Maps You have a few alternatives that should work. The PDF, JPEG, PNG and Microsoft Word options all look worth a try.

    Bob,

The file is from MindJet application and the file extension is known as MMAP. My user is trying to copy and paste a visual diagram/flowchart to Word 2016 for MAC and for some reason the option to select paste Picture is not available in the Paste Special menu selections. In Office 2010 for MAC it is available. Here's an excerpt below defining what it is.. Thanks and let me know please

MMAP is a data file used by Mindjet. MMAP files contain visual diagrams or flow charts which can be used to organize or ‘map’ ideas and information. This information can be anything, including meeting notes, business workflows, project progress, and brainstorming. MMAP files can be opened using MindManager, Mindjet’s commercial mind mapping software. Similar to .MMP files, which are also used by Mindjet products.

Can you be more specific about exactly what you're copying & where you're copying it from? Availability of Paste Special - Picture is dependent on that, as well as the file types of the source & the target documents. A complete & accurate description of the issue would be most helpful.

According to your message, you copied a picture... If you copy a picture it shouldn't be necessary to use Paste Special in the first place.

Also, is your installation of Office 2016 fully updated? 15.15 is the current version.

I'm experiencing the same issue in MS Word 2016 15.15.  A workaround is to open the picture separately in Preview, select Edit - Copy and then paste it into the Word document at the desired location.  This in OS X El Capitan 10.11.2
