Skype for Business Basic Click-to-Run 64-bit Installer

I am trying to install Skype for Business Basic but can only find the download link to the Windows Installer version. I currently have the 64-bit Office 2016 apps installed on my Windows 10 PC using the Click-to-Run installer from the Office 365 site.

This is the error I receive during install:

This is to be expected though.

Can anyone provide me with the link to the Skype for Business Basic 64-bit Click-to-Run installer?

If that does not exist, can a link be provided for the 64-bit Office 2016 apps Windows Installer version?

Thanks in advance.

    Hi afskymonkey,

I don't know if you ever got this resolved but I finally found it. Information on the Skype C2R can be found here: http://flinchbot.com/ucnow/index.php/2015/09/24/office-2016-skype-for-business-client-links/

Microsoft used to have a help article with the install links here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3098207

Microsoft has apparently removed the article, but the download links are still active in the first link I provided. They are for the basic editions of Skype for Business. I hope this helps!

I found this MS support page with stand-alone installers for Skype for Business in many languages (32- and 64-bit versions).

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3139711/how-to-install-the-skype-for-business-basic-stand-alone-client

For me, the 32-bit version installed fine alongside my existing installation of Office 365 32-bit.

There isn't a CTR version available right now, because CTR seems to only be part of O365 at this time, and Skype for Business Basic is not an O365 product.

I am having the same issue. I found this article which describes how to wrap Skype for Business Basic in a CTR installer using the Office Deployment tool:

    http://www.markc.me.uk/blog/files/S4BCTR.html

You can use the <exclude> command with those instructions exclude both Groove and OneDrive installation by adding exclude clauses for both of those products.

I tried it on a test machine and it seemed to work, however, that machine started throwing nuisance errors while Skype for Business Basic was running. Everything seemed ok, but I wasn't 100% certain, so I didn't try again on my main device.

Stellar! Thank you so much for posting this. I used the links in the article and was able to download Skype for Business Basic CTR and install alongside the Office 2016 CTR install. I previously tried the CTR wrapper method using the Office Deployment Tool, and that worked, but not perfectly - a lot of strange errors. The download links you posted did not throw any errors, and everything seems to be working correctly. Thanks!

    Aaron
