iPad Pro Palm Rejection with Apple Pencil Not Working well

Using a 12.9 inch iPad Pro and the Apple Pencil. When my palm touches, a lot of times OneNote will zoom the page like I am doing a two finger gesture - very annoying when trying to write and ruins the whole handwriting experience.  I have tried the various hand positions in the setup but it occurs with all. Advice?

    Hi Crubin,

This is JK from OneNote Engineering team, and I'm sorry you are running into this issue.

For Apple Pencil exclusive mode, "Draw with Touch" mode needs to be turned off. Otherwise, OneNote gets all touches and handles them. This menu is accessible from "Draw" ribbon tab, "Drawing Mode" popup. The first switch is "Draw with Touch" This menu won't be available if Apple Pencil is disconnected, though.

If you are using Apple Pencil with "Draw with Touch" off, selecting hand position doesn't have any effect on handwriting experience.

    1. Make sure Apple Pencil is connected.
    2. Start OneNote
    3. Turn off "Draw with Touch" mode.

If you are still experiencing issues, please let us know.

Has this been resolved? Can it be closed?

Was looking into using ipad pro w pencil as alternative to other hardware.

No. The latest OneNote still has the funny thing with palm. When writing with Apple pencil, I still can accidentally trigger the zooming with my palm. I just wonder how hard to add a "disable zoom" in their menu?! I want to say zooming by two fingers is not that useful when writing. Can you zoom the physical paper? No.

This palm zooming is very annoying..........

No, Noyonima has not yet replied to that question - this makes OneNote pretty much unusable on the iPad Pro so it's a real shame - I haven't found any other solutions other than different note-taking apps

Yes, draw with touch is set to off. My palm is not writing on the screen, it seems to be making the zoom level jump and thus the whole page positioning jumps. Kind of like I am doing a two finger zoom in gesture, but all that is touching is my palm (and presumably not in two places within the palm but maybe it is reading as two fingers somehow. Thanks.
