Problem installing Office 2016 in Windows 10

I have successfully installed on my laptop, and have followed the same procedure for my desktop, uninstalling all previous office programs.

I keep getting the error:

We can't install the 64-bit version of Office 2016 because we have found the following 32-bit programs on your PC:

Office 15 Click-to-Run Extensibility Component

The trouble is, I can't find it on the apps list - Help!!

Hi Philip,

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Let us restart the computer in clean mode and run the Office fix it, then try to install Office in normal mode and check if it helps.

Refer to the article below to start the computer in Clean Boot. (The suggestions in the article also applies to windows 10 as well)

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: Ensure to restart the computer in normal mode by following Step 7, after completing the troubleshooting steps.

Kindly click on the following link to run fixit.

Do you have the specific limited reason for installing 64 bit office? as using 2010 H&S would suggest that you dont.

The uninstall Kb also listed the manual removal methods

    Thank you Harsha

I had tried this fix, but without the clean boot, so I followed the procedure above but the troubleshooter cannot detect the problem. As I said before, I had already uninstalled all the Office programmes, so I don't know how this "Office 15 Click-to-Run Extensibility Component" exists or where it is on my computer

I tried installing Office 2016 in clean mode, but it couldn't find the installer. After re-starting in Normal mode, Office 2016 will still not install, and the same error message appears.

I have re-installed Office Home and Student 2010 successfully to enable me to keep working!

What do I do next, please?
