Deleting files is a function of OS X file management system. You cannot rename, delete, move or copy files from within an application program.

To delete files, close the file & use Finder to navigate to the location where the file is stored. You then can drag the file to the Trash or use either of several other methods to delete the unwanted files.

You might want to have a look in Mac Help> About Your Mac as well as other topics. The Apple web site also has some very useful information on using the operating system, especially if you're a recent convert from the Windows OS.

You must be use to the way Windows PC's works with files.

On Mac you locate the folder/directory you saved the Presentation Then simply Drag file to Trash and empty.

There are several way to look for PowerPoint Files. All PowerPoint file end in the extension(s):

ppt    (Presentation - Format used in Powerpoint 2007/2008 and prior)

p****ptx  (Presentation - Format used in PowerPoint 2010-2011 and above)

pps   (PowerPoint Show - Format used in Powerpoint 2007/2008 and prior)

ppsx (PowerPoint Show - Format used in PowerPoint 2010-2011 and above)

One Method is use SpotLight simply type .ppt or .pptx or .pps or .ppsx

Another I like better is in go to Finder (window you see when you first open computer).

    1. Go to file menu.
    2. Choose Find File.
    3. When window opens, type one of the extensions it will locate every Presentation you have.
    4. Choose desired one and put in trash and empty.

(make sure the one you put in trash is the one you want to get rid of because once you go to Trash and empty it. It's gone for good).

There are two Utilities that work faster and I have had no issues with them one is called EasyFind and the other is Tembo. Both use a faster look up system than with Find File or Spotlight.

I purchased a copy for my own use and find it helpful and for me, it has not done any harm. As with all software, including software from Microsoft, there is always the slight, possibility of buggy or harmful behavior, but this has not done so for me.
