AutoFormat changes the numbers from Hindi to Arabic

Hi,

I'm writing an essay in Persian, so I've set the Numeral in Advanced Options to Context, but every time Word's AutoFormat creates an automatic list, numbers change back to Arabic (1, 2, 3) from Hindi (۱، ۲، ۳).

I've tried different fonts, keyboard layouts, and changed the font, alignment and text direction (by pressing the right Ctrl+Shift) in Define New Number Format menu, but the problem still exists. I never had the same issue with previous versions. (2013, 2010 etc.)

I'd appreciate your help.

and 2007).

Hi everyone,

The context numbering issue is now fixed for both Arabic and Persian n build 16.0.7369.2024, released on 10/4. To get the latest updates, click File> Account > Update Options > Update Now.

Word maintains a list of workarounds and fixes for recent issues, in case it helps in the future.

Best,

-Erik, Office Newsroom

This error seems to have returned in update KB3141450 for Microsoft Office 2016 Language Interface Pack released on 1/3. There is no workaround for this error for PCs, and the Mac workaround doesn't work.

Be aware that if you have templates or add-ins that make use of UserForms, they will not render correctly in build 7369.2024. This problem has been reported to the Product Team.
