I have an Office 365 Home account but I cannot install Word on my Lumia 950 using one of the 5 installs available to me. The phone will only allow me to buy a separate subscription. How can I install it using one of my subscriptions?

Yes, I’ve been to the link quite a few times looking for answers. My phone did come with Office 365 installed however Word, Excel and other apps will only open the files in ’read only’. There is a banner at the top that says that I need to upgrade to the paid version in order to edit and save files. There does not appear to be a way to link it to my unused subscriptions.

Having said all that, I finally found the answer on how to connect it to my device in another related thread. I do wish the online help would have suggested this.

Try signing out of your Mobile app and then signing back in:

  1. Open Word, Excel, or PowerPoint Mobile
  2. Open any document
  3. Tap File and then Settings and then Account
  4. Tap each account and tap Sign out
  5. Tab Close
  6. Close your app

Now, sign back in to your app. Start your app and click Sign in

All is well now.

    Hello,

Welcome to Microsoft Community and thank you for posting your query.

I would like to inform you that Windows 10 phones are pre-installed with individual Office apps Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote.

If you added a Microsoft account associated to Office 365 subscription when you set up your Windows phone, this account is automatically associated with your Office apps. When you first sign into the app you'll have access to documents you saved to the OneDrive service associated with that Microsoft account.

For more information, kindly refer to the below mentioned Microsoft article.

I hope the above information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance.

    Thank you.
