I bought the Microsoft package with my laptop, and I now realize it did not include access.  Why is this?  I need it for school, and only have word, powerpoint, one note (which I never use), and excel.  My class requires Access and now I am unprepared.  I just want to purchase Access alone.

I wouldn't recommend that anyone waste their time with the "Home & Student" version or Education version ... because, as you have discovered, it doesn't include Access.

I purchased (or is it leased?) Office 365 Home for $9.99 / month or $99.99 / year.

    https://products.office.com/en-us/office-365-home

which DOES include Access, but does not include Sharepoint 2013.

Assuming that you'll want to use Office (and Access) after you graduate, going this route is a great start.

There are a couple of other advantages to Office 365.

1.) Upgrades are included, at no additional charge. It was Office 2013 when I bought it, and it is now Office 2016.

2.) You can install office on up to 5 PC's (or even Mac's) within your household / family. So now we're theoretically talking about spending $2.00/ month for each copy.

If having Sharepoint is also important to you, then Office 365 Business Premium https://products.office.com/en-us/business/office-365-business-premium might be what you want. (It's what I have right now)

The website is confusing, though ... perhaps a Microsoft employee can straighten this out. This version does not list Access in the program list, but it's clearly included! It also says a max of 5 users, but I recall that it was 15!

First, please don't piggyback your question on another thread. For future reference please use the Participate link above to start your own thread.

What version of Office do you have? What version do you need for your class? It might be better to just upgrade your version of Office to one that includes Access. You should also check with your school bookstore. They usually have discounted versions.

Perhaps more important than Sharief's questions is from what site are you trying to purchase Access. Access definitely is sold as a product by itself, but it's possible wherever you're trying to purchase it may not sell it.
