Flashcards on OneNote 2016

I'm learning to use OneNote for all of my everyday wants/need at home and at school and its wonderful. However, when trying to think of a way to use OneNote as flashcards, I found some videos and documents online (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNbIeERPM-A) showing how to create flashcards in a text box using the indent and hide feature. However I couldn't seem to be able to find the icon next to my text box with the four arrows that allows you to hide part of the text box. I assume that this is only a feature in a previous version of OneNote. Is there any way that I can work around this? Or it would be just as well to have some other way to utilize OneNote to create flashcards.

Thanks in advance for any possible help :)

    Hi Seth,

As mentioned in the below blog, you should (indent) position the text to the right on the second line.

    https://blogs.office.com/2010/08/28/test-yourself-with-paperless-onenote-flashcards/

As you can see in the example given in the above blog, type etude and press enter, now press Alt + Shift + Right Arrow (to indent). Now type the meaning ex: the study of a subject.

Now when you double click on the 4-sided arrow icon, this action collapses (hides) the indented translation text below the vocabulary word.

Hope the information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance.

    Thank you.

Ok, I had this problem too and here's what you do (I'm using the desktop 2016 version):

    Write out the term

    Press Enter

Press Tab (you don't need to do anything fancier than this)

**Now here's where I think you're going wrong:**make sure your cursor is in whatever container/box that the term and definition is in, then hover over the term (not the definition) and you'll see a little grey flag appear to the left of the term and your cursor will turn into the 4-directional arrows. Double-click that one, not the grey flag to the left of the definition. Then, the definition will collapse and hide under the term, creating a boxed plus sign that you can use to expand to view the definition hidden below.

    [_> Term (Apple)

Definition (An edible, hard fruit with seeds that grows on trees)

I am using Onenote 2016 with win10 aniv edtn.

I cannot get the flashcard method to work despite following the instructions in the article and also your comments. When passing the mouse over the word I just get a grey arrow. If i put the cursor over this I get the black cross which triggers a box of paste and other facilities, not what the article refers to.

I will appreciate any help with this.

When I follow those instructions and get to double clicking the four sided arrow icon, all it does is highlight the text, not collapse it. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but it isn't working for me =(
