New drawing canvas

Hi,

I frequently use the drawing canvas to insert and group figures and text.

However, the page size and its margins, size of inserted figures, and figure position change according to type of manual I create.

Is there a way to set the default size of canvas?

If yes, where is this done and where is it saved to (per document, per connected template, per general template, other)?

Thank you,

Josh

Create a canvas of the size that you want.  Them, with it selected, click on File then Options then Proofing then AutoCorrect Options and in the Replace with box type dcanvas then click the Formatted text radio button if it is not selected and then click on the Add button and then on OK and OK again.

Then, whenever you want that size drawing canvas, type dcanvas and press Enter.

    Interesting.

Why do you find working with a table is better than a drawing canvas (which I assume is the way Microsoft designed the way to work in)?

I've done both: tables and drawing canvas, in-line with text.

In either method I have balloons and text boxes to point ta parts and explain them.

Always willing to learn better/more effective methods...

    Thank you

In my experience, the best way to group figures and text is to use a table and insert the figures (by which I assume that you mean images\charts\etc.) in-line with text.

I have lost count of the number of times that I have fixed up formatting for users by removing text boxes and drawing canvases and re-laid out the document using a table or tables.
