O365 Sign in Blocked by IE ESC

Hi all,

I've installed Office 2013 on our terminal server, and as you can see, the sign in page is being blocked by IE ESC. I have added the domain to trusted sites using group policy, yet it is still blocking the sign-in. Users are unable to click 'next' on the dialog and therefore unable to sign in. The server in question is Windows server 2008 R2 SP1 and attached to a domain. The domain controller is a Windows 2008 SBS.

Office 2013 was installed using the deployment tool with the shared licensing option set.

IE ESC is turned off for users on this server as well.

Thanks in advance!

    Hi David,

Please try resetting IE, as it seems that even after disabling IE ESC, new users that log on to the system will still encounter an enabled IE ESC.

    Thanks Sheen,

We got this figured yesterday. Instructing users to reset IE did in fact correct the issue.

OK, the Remote Desktop Server is now fully patched, and Office 2013 is reinstalled. Users are still having the same issue.

Here is a screenshot from IE on the server. I get the same thing on my local machine, so the 404 error is expected. No IE ESC blocking.

    Allan,

    Thanks for the reply.

IE ESC is set to off for administrators and users.

Putting the URL into Internet Explorer results in a 404 error.

Users are getting the error, but not administrators.

Currently we are patching the server, as we checked, and it was missing some patches. We are reinstalling office 2013 and will report back.

    Hi David,

It seems that the IE ESC settings doesn’t take into effect. For “IE ESC is turned off for users on this server as well.”, do you mean that you have disabled the IE ESC for both Administrators and Users? If not, we suggest you disable both of these two options to see the outcome.

If you have disabled these two options, could you try to turn on these two options and then re-disable them to see the outcome. (Note: If possible, we suggest you reboot your server.)

How To Turn Off Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration

If the issue persists after trying above, I’d like to confirm the following information for further troubleshooting.

    1. The settings of your IE ESC settings like the above picture.
    2. If we manually input other site’s URL, will it be blocked?
    3. Which account you signed in to this problematic server, an administrator or a user?

    Regards,

    Allan
