    hi vijayaragavan,

you can use the ediscovery feature to create a case for leaves’ onedrive for business sites, so these sites will be on hold as part of an ediscovery case. these sites won’t be deleted unless the hold is removed. to learn more, see how user profiles are deleted in sharepoint online and onedrive for business.

about how to place on hold with onedrive for business, we can follow the steps below:

1.set up an ediscovery center in sharepoint online.

2.take owner of leaves’ onedrive for business sites.

    for individual user

navigate to sharepoint admin center>user profiles>manage user profiles>enter that user’s account>find>select that user and right-click>manage site collection owner>remove that user and add your admin account>ok.

    for bulk users

assign ediscovery permissions to onedrive for business sites

3.create a new ediscovery case. (step 1,2,3 in this article)

another article for your reference:add content to an ediscovery case and place sources on hold.

moreover, another best practice for leaves is that admin may firstly take owner of their onedrive for business sites, and then move the files we want to other location using the open with explorer feature. at last delete leaves’ accounts.

    best regards,

    tim
