Save OneNote Notebooks to Computer and Remove from OneDrive

I have been using OneDrive for the past 4-5 years to save and sync my college OneNote notebooks. I had 30 GB from various promos that Microsoft ran, but I now need to scale back to less than 5GB since MS has decided that that's all you get for free. I don't want to delete my old notebooks, but I want to remove the data from OneDrive so I have enough space for new ones. I need a way to save the notebooks that are currently on OneDrive to my laptop. I would really prefer not to have to copy all the sections from my 30 or so notebooks into new local notebooks.

One way for open or closed notebooks:

    1. Close all open notebooks in Onenote
    2. On onedrive.live.com right click the folder (not the notebooks) which contains your notebooks (Documents ?) and select Download. You get a ZIP file. Extract the notebook folders (!) (containing the section files *.one). Go into these folders (one by one) and double click one of the *.one files. Now the notebook will open.

For open notebooks there are two alternatives:

    1. Right click a notebook. Goto Properties. Select Change Location (to your local file system) OR
    2. For each notebook use File, Export, Package Format. Creates one file for one notebook. Close the notebook. Double click the created file. Onenote will open it again, now locally.
