Not option to HIGHLIGHT TEXT in Powerpoint 2016

In the past, there was a "Text Highlighter Color" available in Powerpoint so that you could highlight text. According to the site below, you should still be able to do that in Powerpoint 2016. However, the button is not there at all and there is not option to add it to the menu anywhere.

There was never a button for highlighting in edit mode in past versions.

It has been made available in the subscription version of 2016 only in the last couple of weeks. If you have a non subscription version or are on deferred updates and have not been updated yet you won't see it.

PowerPoint 2016 actually does offer a Highlighter tool, but it's different from the traditional text highlighter found in Word. However, it should work just fine in most instances.

In the Tell Me What You Want to Do bar, type "highlighter" or go to the Review tab and click "Start Inking" (uh, whaaaat?) and choose the Highlighter tool from the Write group.

One advantage of the Pen Highlighter tool is that not only can you highlight text, but you can also apply highlighting to any slide object (like an image, chart, or data ta ble).

    Happy Highlighting!!

I have the same problem with you. At home, I am using the Office 365 (private version) and I can use the text highlight at the PowerPoint2016. At the office I am using the Microsoft Office 365 Business version and I cannot see the text highlight button.

At the first time, I checked update channel in the office. We are using deferred update channel. Therefore, I cannot download recently version of the Office 365. I downloaded recently version of the office by using the Office 365 client  configuration file to update My Office 365 in the office. I updated my Office 365 by using the downloaded file.

Finally, I am suing the version 1611 (build 7571.2109). But I cannot use the text highlight still. I guess that Office 365 Business cannot use the text highlight function.

Hi, Martin. On the Home tab of the ribbon in PowerPoint for Mac 2016, there is a "Clear All Formatting" button. It's located immediately above the "Font Color" button. The Clear All Formatting button has a capital A and an eraser on it.

To get rid of the yellow highlighting, select the text that has the highlighting. Then click the Clear All Formatting button. This will remove the highlighting and also reset the color of the font to Black.

Why the hell would it be available in the subscription version and not in the 2016 version?

its bad enough that i have to deal with the differences between the windoze and mac versions.
