Default Number of Copies When Printing

Anonymous

Print functions work fine, however if I print multiple copies the next time I print I have to remember to change the number of copies back to '1' or it prints the number of copies I used previously.  Cannot find any setting to always default print copies back to '1'.

Windows 10, Office 2016.  Occurs in both Word and Excel.

Bug or feature?

This may be sort of a printer issue. Normally, if I print from Word's Print dialog (in Word 2003) and select multiple copies, then the next time I open the dialog (our use the Print button to print the document with the default settings), I get just one copy. But if I have opened the printer properties to change the paper type or select duplex printing, then sometimes the number of copies gets "stuck." I have to be careful to set the number of copies back to 1 in the Print dialog before changing the printer settings back to the default; otherwise I'm liable to find myself printing 13 copies of an envelope merge to go with the 13 letters I've printed.

Some print options (such as the active printer) are retained, but most (including number of copies) reset to the default with each visit to the Print dialog (at least in Word 2003).

    Thanks for the feedback.

For what it is worth, Word has behaved that way for years: print options are retained for the current session and then discarded. There have been some reports in the forum over the past years suggesting that this isn't working consistently in recent versions of Word, though.

Hadn't thought of that, but yes, it does.

(I leave Word open all the time)

If you exit and restart Word between print jobs, then does the number of copies revert back to 1?
