Missing Access 2016 ribbon and menu - works fine after reboot but later has missing ribbon/menu

Upgraded to Windows 10 and Office 365 16.0.6741.2056

Initially after a reboot Access works fine

subsequently, when I open Access itself, or open a MDB or accdb file, I don't have any ribbon or menu.

If I reboot and repeat the same steps, the ribbon and menu reappear.

Ctrl F1 has no affect.

Getting the problem with Access again.  Grrrrr.

Excel and Word display properly when access is not displaying properly.

Also noted that the Windows 10 Start button does not work for single left click but does for right click.  curious.

Think I will try a Windows 10 repair.

    Hi Bob,

The issue may be related to your default graphics card on your computer. I suggest you take a look at the thread below:

Access 2016 windows 10 opens to a blank screen

Meanwhile, please confirm if the issue persists when you control the computer directly, instead of using TeamViewer.

    Regards,

    Jiaxing Bian

    Thanks for the fast reply.

I already did the repair.  Both the quick repair and the other repair.  No success.

    Attached are screen images.

When the ribbon and Access "headings" are not displayed, if I slowly move my cursor from upper right left, when I hover at just the right spot, I can find "Close", "Maximize", "minimize" and "Access help" which works as shown in one of the images.

Image 1 - shows Access after it is opened - really that is what is displayed

Image 2 - shows when I found and clicked on "Access help"

image 3 - shows when i open my application which normally displays a ribbon and normal "headings"

image 4 - shows my application when I "found" and clicked on "Customize quick Access toolbar"

image 5 - my application displayed immediately after a reboot

I am running this on a PC with Windows 10 and Office 365/(Access 2016).

We recently upgraded the PC to windows 10.  This problem did not occur with office 365/(Access 2016) with windows 7 pro.

I am connected in via Teamviewer so that is why there is the "other stuff" in the images.

I have been connecting in via teamviewer to this PC for the past couple of months, almost daily, working on Access.

Under Windows 7 Pro with Office 365/(Access 2016) I never had an issue like this.

    Hi Bob,

You may firstlyonline repair the Office suite to check the outcome.

If the issue persists, I’d like to confirm the following things:

    1. Does the issue occur with some existing files? If you just open Access and create a new file, will the ribbon/menu disappear?
    2. The screenshots for “don’t have any ribbon or menu”.
    3. Open Access>File>Account>capture a screenshot of Product Information.

    Best regards,

    Tim
