Word won't paste text from other sources

I write using Scrivener, but frequently need to paste text from Scriv into a Word doc. This worked fine UNTIL I upgraded my Mac OS to El Capitan. But I posted on the Scrivener board and noone else has this problem. So...when I cut text in Scriv, go over to my open word doc, and try to paste...paste is grayed out. Word's not even seeing that there IS text to be pasted. But I can cut/paste text from other sources into word (ex. from a web page) with no problem. Help

I agree with Rich on this... The probable cause of Word "not even seeing" what's on the Clipboard is that there is nothing on the Clipboard - at least nothing in a form Word can recognize. Have you examined the Clipboard content to verify what, if anything, it contains?

Your subject states that "Word won't paste text from other sources" but in your message you conclude by stating that you "...can cut/paste text from other sources into word... with no problem". Depending on which statement is accurate, I'd say the problem most likely lies with the Scrivener product or its interaction with OS X.

    Hi Holly,

Since this is a Microsoft Word forum I'd be surprised if anyone will be able to help you with a Scrivener problem. I visited their listing in the Apple App Store and it says they have a version 2.7.1 for El Capitan. Are you running that version? I also see that you are running Microsoft Office 2011 for the Mac, I have to ask, are you running the latest version of this software as well? And you applied the El Capitan update to your Mac but are you running the latest version there as well.

Your first troubleshooting step should always be to ensure you are running the latest software version. The other thing to do is after updating any software is to shutdown and restart your system. Doing these things might help but I can't say for sure, because I don't know the Scrivener product.

In your note you said something that I think is the key to this problem. "Word's not even seeing that there is text to be pasted." This would indicate that the Scrivener app is not using/sharing the system's (El Capitan) clipboard properly or that there might be a setting in the app's preference settings that you need to mark in order for it to do so.

Sorry I couldn't have been more help.
