HI Team.

I am having a windows 10 Laptop with office 2016 installed. I have set it to display only on extended monitor connected through a USB Docking station using HDMI Cable. when i exit a presentation display switches to extended mode and my external monitor becomes my secondary Monitor. I created a DWORD RestoreTopology under HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\PowerPoint\Options as it used to work fine earlier but now the display changes to extended mode after i exit from the presentation. this is happening after i re imaged the laptop recently. Please let me know if there is any other setting i am missing.

    Hi Syed Ahmed,

Since you mentioned that it only happens to one computer and others are working fine. You can also contact the manufacturer of your laptop in case there’s something that needs to be updated (ex: drivers etc.)

Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have further inquiries.

    Hi Syed,

To resolve the issue with your display settings, we recommend performing the steps below.

    1. Open PowerPoint.
    2. Click File, select Options, then go to Advanced.
    3. Uncheck the checkbox which says Automatically extend display when presenting on a desktop or tablet, then click OK.
    4. Open any presentation or start a new one.
    5. Go to Slide Show tab, then uncheck Use Presenter View.

    Let us know the outcome.

    Hi Ryan.

Thanks for your reply. but when I do this I will miss the notes on the document as I will no longer be in presenter view. I want to be in presenter view when I give presentation but when I exit from presentation mode I want my display setting to switch back to as they were earlier (Second screen only) and my laptop monitor to be turned off. in all the other laptops I successfully achieved it by added RestoreTopology in registry. only in one laptop I have this problem.

    Regards

    Syed Ahmed Quadri
