Powerpoint Paste not working

In Powerpoint as part of Office Pro Plus 2013, we have noticed we can copy something but when we go paste it, ctrl-V doesn't work and right clicking shows the paste options unavailable.  We have not found any rhyme or reason for it.  Can be from somewhere on the same slide in the same window, another slide in the same window, another PPT presentation in another window, Excel, Word, Internet... doesn't seem to matter.  Some of us can just select the box again, right click and it's there.  Others it doesn't matter how many times they do it, it just never appears/works.  These are company systems so everyone has the same software/updates.

There does not seem to be any issue with any of the other programs, including other office programs, only Powerpoint.

I'm hitting a dead end every time I try to figure it out so I'm hoping you can help.

Thanks!

This always happen to me. I'm not sure why, but the most simple workaround is usually to open paint, paste the picture there, hit Ctrl + A (to select all) then re-copy it. From there it should paste into PowerPoint.

Sometimes, right after pasting, a small popup box would show (you would have to find it, it would be somewhere in the vicinity of where you pasted the picture). Click it then click the option which reads something like 'Preserve original formatting', or 'Do not change formatting'. The picture should then reappear.

Sometimes, the picture might go outside the boundaries of the screen. you might have to zoom out a little bit. Other times, it might be hidden under another layer of text box or pictures.

Also, I found that clicking in the empty spot outside of the slide, then pasting, helps overcome some issues. This makes sure that nothing is selected and no text box is being edited while pasting.

So these are the options I usually use:

    1. Paste it in paint, then recopy it into PowerPoint
    2. Preserve formatting using option from popup box for pasting
    3. Check that the picture did not go outside the boundaries of the slide
    4. Check that it is not hidden behind a layer of text boxes or pictures
    5. Click outside the slide before pasting

Please see if whether these options work. Hope this helps!

    Aaron.

My problem isn't with copying.  I can move to another program, paste and the data is there.  It's just not giving me the option to actually paste it into Powerpoint.

And like I said, there are times that some people can just click where we want it again (select the same box) and right click a second time and the paste option appears fine.  No recopying required.

This is just a guess, but if you're copying and pasting items that are larger than the amount of available memory, PowerPoint has to save the information to virtual memory (same thing as saving to your hard disk), then read it back again. This process can take a second or two, so just pausing between copying and pasting may make it available on the right-click menu.

I did try this, but it didn't help.  It still shows as grayed out when I go to paste.  I click again, right click, and it shows up sometimes, sometimes it takes doing that a few times before it shows up.  It seems to vary from person to person, file to file, time to time... no consistency.  One time I can copy and the paste option shows up the first time I try to paste (regardless of using ctrl-c or right clicking and going through the menu).  Sometimes I can copy (same file, same slide even) and I have to click and try to paste to or three times before the option shows up, regardless of if I used ctrl-c or the menu to copy.

I've tried multiple different ways, changed different variables (menu vs keyboard, small amounts of data vs larger amounts.  New file vs old file.  New reboot with nothing else running vs lots of apps running.) and there seems to be no rhyme or reason.  It is grayed out more often than it works by a large amount but it's still not every time and doesn't seem to increase or decrease based on any of the variables I tried.

    Thanks!

I've run into this over and over copy/pasting from Excel to PowerPoint.

Ctrl+C is totally unreliable.  Right-click and choose Copy works well.
