How to print Pure Black and White in PowerPoint 2016

I am using PowerPoint 2016. I have set the view to Black and White, and I am choosing to print Pure Black and White. However, when it starts to print, you can see it quickly changes over on the screen to Grayscale and it prints in Grayscale instead of the Pure Black and White. I have found many posts for previous versions of the program, but none for the new version and the directions don't seem to match up. (Incidentally, this problem seems to go back as far as 2010, so why hasn't the issue been resolved??) Can anyone give me directions how to print the Pure Black and White with the PowerPoint 2016? Thank you.

    Hi Jo,

I would like to inform you that bitmaps, clip art, and charts show and are printed in grayscale, even when you set the printer properties to print in pure black and white.

You may refer to the table in the following Microsoft help article to understand how the objects will display on the screen and in print:

    https://support.office.com/en-ie/article/print-your-slides-in-black-and-white-or-grayscale-0f92a9b3-84a6-4c1e-940f-876247684b63

Hope this information helps. Do let us know for further assistance. We’ll be happy to help.

    Thank you.

Some printers need a registry key. Do you know how to add a value??

If so this is the key.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\PowerPoint\

    NEW DWORD (32 Bit) Value

Rename to IgnoreDevModeColor and set value to 1

Don't go here if you do not know what you are doing

    Dear Jenith,

You did not answer the question that was asked.  What must a person do to get PP 2016 to print slides in Pure Black and White?  Just as JoAnn says the software will not allow me to print in Pure Black and White.  I can view the slide deck in Pure Black and White but the software changes the print selection the instant you click on Print.  Please try again to answer the question that was asked.

The OP question seems to be about the print setting switching back to grayscale after B&W is chosen. As I mentioned some color printers do this with PowerPoint by overiding the chosen setting (our Samsung CLP does). At least for us setting the registry to IgnoreDevModeColor does fix this.

It's not for the faint hearted though.
