OneNote 2016 Hyperlinks not always showing the underline

Hi - I've created hyperlinks from some text to an existing section but the typical Hyperlink Blue Underline does not show up.  The link is still there as evidenced by the cursor change when I move over the text, but visually I don't see the Blue Underline.

How can I fix this so it shows up?

I've already tried to delete and recreate the hyperlink by right clicking on the page I want to link to, selecting Copy Link, and then on the text I want to show the link, when selected, chose to create a hyperlink and pasted the link into the address location.

As I said, the text is now linked, but I can't see the Blue underline, which I do want to show up like it usually does.

Suggestions?

Same goes for me. The only links that show properly (blue, underlined) are those inserted when copying e.g. a OneNote page / section using the "Copy link" option. All other links using the "Insert link" function insert the link black and not underlined, though the link itself works.

    Any help is highly appreciated!

PS: this applies to OneNote 2016 and most likely below

    Supplemental:

After months of not having the foggiest idea why this isn't working properly, I eventually found a solution. Inspecting an installation of OneNote on another machine that worked properly, I compared the settings. The culprit: the default font color defined in the OneNote preferences was set to a specific color. This resulted in hyperlinks not being colored in blue and (in the case of OneNote 2016) not even being underlined, though the linking itself worked as expected.

As soon as I changed the default color to "Automatic", the hyperlinks were colored in blue again.

I decided to keep the default color to my preferred tint and to manually reset an inserted hyperlink to "Automatic" in the text. At least I now know which knob to turn.

Russell thank you for taking the time to add your solution, this has solved a good 45 minutes of frustration and Googling for me! I had exactly this issue, hyperlinks appeared correctly in one section and in another underlined but the wrong colour. Highlighted the hyperlink and changed the font to automatic (colour may appear black) and then it changed to the default hyperlink font again! Slightly annoying 'bug' this as I have not encountered it in other office applications.

Thank you! I changed the default font colour back to "Automatic" through the File->General->Default font trail and finally fixed this problem!

    Hi,

In order for us to better assist you, we'd like to get the following information:

    • Have you made any changes to your OneNote prior to this issue?
    • Does this issue persist to a specific Notebook or to all your Notebooks?
    • Is your OneNote up to date?

We recommend that you sign out and sign in your account to OneNote.

We look forward to your reply.

I'm having the exact same issue. I was typing in the notebook and came to a spot where I wanted to create a hyperlink, so I did. It linked, but did not show blue or underlined. I undid the linking and tried again, same issue. My OneNote is very much up to date, and seems like it applies to just this one section of one notebook right now; earlier, I created hyperlinks in other sections of the same notebook earlier and it worked just fine.
