Copy paste does not paste current text

I am having trouble copying and pasting into word using Office 365 ProPlus. It is remembering the last text I copied and not the current one I am trying to copy. I have closed the document and that didn't work. Is there some cache I can clear?

    Hi Mary,

You can go to Clipboard in Word to monitor whether the copy is successful before pasting. Once we copy one text, the content will be available in the Clipboard for us to check.

If there is any problem during you copy and paste the text, please share the screenshot of the Clipboard with us.

Meanwhile, I’d like to confirm some information for us to better troubleshooting.

    1. Does this problem happen to all your Office 365 applications, such as Excel or PowerPoint?
    2. Please provide the screenshot of your Word version.

    Regards,

    Tisky

I also frequently experience this, especially when copying from Web pages: I carefully select the text (on Web pages, this often requires several tries) and, having done the work, think I have copied.

In my case, whenever that has happened, it has been operator error - I did not actually copy what I thought that I had copied.

A macro could be interfering with the copy/paste functions in Word. To troubleshoot this, first see what happens in Safe mode. Are you able to copy and paste normally in that mode?

Here's how to start Word in Safe mode: Exit the program if it is currently running. Hold the Ctrl key as you restart, and click yes when asked about Safe mode.
