I tried to open Office 2013 and got the system error:

The program can't start because AppVIsvSubsystems64.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this program. Any idea? Thanks in advance!

In my case, Office 2016 Pro Plus, the problem is due to a malfunction of the "ClickToRun" folder, located at C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun.

If something goes wrong (unwanted/accidental file or folder deletion), the entire Office suite stops working.

The DLL AppVIsvSubsystems64.dllis located in the above mentioned folder and, if unreachable or damaged, will make the dialog box appear (AppVIsvSubsystems64.dll unavailable).

In that folder there are several dlls which can drive to an error if removed/corrupted (by a virus or something like that)...

My suggestion, for the Microsoft staff, is to make a small fix package - available to all the Office users - which will repair/reinstall that folder (and, of course, its contents) and make Office back to its running state.

    Cheers

I'm having the same problem with Office 2016 and it's becoming a big problem as I'm trying to do a PhD.  I'm not confident that the system is not going to lose all my work as it's less easy to navigate than previous programmes.

Same here but with the 64 bit DLL.

The entire office suite is affected: word excel, powerpoint, outlook, etc.

Just resorted to my office online and ill probably reinstall local office later which should solve the problems but the weird thing is that I used word yesterday, closed down word, played some mass effect, watched a movie (guardians of the galaxy, YEAAAY :D ) and now when I start word I get this error.

I didn't even reboot my system or install anything so what happened that broke the entire office suite?

The weirder thing is that the missing files are actually on my system and that those files havent seen change in over a year!
