OneDrive for Business Sync is disabled in Registry

Three times now in the past two months, I notice there is no 'blue cloud' in the system tray. The first time this happened, the Office 365 support team assisted me with finding this Registry key, and changed the value from 1 to 0. I was then able to start OneDrive, and successfully sync my files. My problem is trying to figure out why this Key keeps changing to a value of 1, which essentially disables OneDrive syncing. "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\OneDrive\DisableFileSyncNGSC"

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Craig Dorow

According to the link provided, the Registry Key can be set to 0, or just deleted. I will try the option of deleting the Key since I have already reset it to 0 three times. After this, I will wait to see if it provides a more permanent solution.

    Thanks for the response.

So far . . . the problem has not returned after deleting the aforementioned Key. I would recommend deletion over changing to a value of 0 if you encounter this same issue.

    Hi Craig Dorow,

From the article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3145959 , we can see that, in order to sync with OneDrive for Business, the DisableFileNGSC key must be removed or the DWORD value must be changed to 0(zero). If we manually change this key to 1, OneDrive for Business won’t start again. This setting on the computer prevents OneDrive for Business starting. On Win10, the Next Gen OneDrive for Business Sync Client is integrated to Win10 and we can enable or disable it via this way.

    Regards,

    Shirley
