I had my gmail account setup in Outlook365 using POP3. I tried to change my password but did it incorrectly so i asked my laptop guy to help - he setup our gmail in Outlook using IMAP and i am missing all my folder form the last 4 years - they are not showing up in my gmail account online either. Are my emails/folder lost now? Can i get them back? Is it because he used IMP versus POP ?
From what I see, Gmail doesn't have folders, it has "labels" and labels are unable to be restored according to https://support.google.com/mail/thread/4055485/how-can-i-recover-deleted-folders-on-gmail?hl=en.

they are not showing up in my gmail account online either.
Do you see those labels listed under the labels tab under Gmail settings?
If the labels are not listed under the labels tab under Gmail settings, then they are deleted and you'd need to recreate them.
