Excel Export to PDF: Errors after Win 10 Update

Please help. I suddenly can't export Excel Spreadsheets to PDF.

Windows 10 just pushed the big update a couple hours ago. September 1, 2016. To be clear, I can't export to PDF, or do a simple "Save As" to PDF. And I'm not trying to send this to printer. It has always just created a PDF of the current sheet into a folder I select.

I keep getting this error message:

I've tried playing with this...

...and get this:

Is it the Print to PDF option? I've never messed with it before, so I don't know what used to be there:

Can't figure that one out. The dropdown you see above leads to a "Print to File" option, but checking it or leaving it unchecked doesn't help.

I tried finding different printers and got this:

So as you can see, I'm trying.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

    1. Microsoft called yesterday Sept 18 while I was sitting at the computer, so instead of giving up, I kept going. This step involved repairing Windows. I started with assistance and continued on my own, knowing that MS would call again later to check up. Windows was apparently repaired, but I still had the same problem.
    2. Microsoft tech Ameenulla Khan called today. I gave him access to my computer and he fixed the issue. He approved the wording of this solution:

    SOLUTION:

    --Repair Windows

    --Uninstall 32-bit Office

    --Install 64-bit Office

--Change printer default to Microsoft Print to PDF

    Note 1:

Everything documented in this thread took more than 12 hours. That includes the initial troubleshooting, writing/updating this thread, the multiple repairs of Windows and Office, reboots, OneNote reloads, quick taskbar adjustments/logins, etc.

    Note 2:

I had given up. Ameenulla was more determined than I was to fix this problem, and he did it. He also was patient with me and my lack of faith that this solution could be accomplished without causing additional issues.

    Note 3:

Ameenulla took the time to explain why this lengthy solution was necessary, versus a quick adjustment to my printer settings. I will not explain it here because the wording will not be accurate enough.

    Note 4:

Unfortunately, I lost track of the many steps involved for this solution, so I can't write them down.

    -end

    Update on troubleshooting steps.

(Notes: This is not happening in Word; just Excel... and started immediately after the big Win 10 update on Sept 1. I am not on a domain network... simply connected to WiFi at our house.)

    1. Quick repair via the link. Didn't work.
    2. Online repair via the link. Didn't work.
    3. Purchased Office 365 Personal. Got shiny new Office 2016 software. Didn't work.
    4. Contacted tech support via chat and gave her this thread to look at. Options were a) agree to have someone access my computer after I removed Microsoft from all liability for doing so or b) Pay for tech support or c) Both.
    5. I said I was not comfortable with these options, and would rather keep posting here and try to have Open Office export/create my PDFs. The tech scheduled a call back for tomorrow, Sept 10. Whether they ask me to pay for their services at that time is yet unknown.

    Went with Option #3: Purchase.

    Shiny new Office. Same problem.

I'm going to post this reply and then send the link to Microsoft, since they said I could report problems with my sales ticket number.

    Vardhaman:

    Thank you for the reply.

Using your supplied link for a Quick Repair didn't work.

(Feel free to roll your eyes at the following...)

Going a step further and using the Online Repair ended up requiring me to sign in, but it's not accepting my login and password. My father-in-law's info (product key/email-password) is impossible to get at this point because he's in the hospital for an extended stay. So it looks like my options are:

    1. Pick a restore point and see if I can get my entire computer, including Office 360, to revert to pre-Windows-update status.
    2. Transfer all my files to my other computer (Ubuntu) and use Libre Office.
    3. Buy my own 360.

Hey, I did tell you that you could roll your eyes. I'm not a fan of drama either.
