Office 2016 Compatability with SharePoint Designer 2013 & InfoPath 2013 Appllications

So here are the parts that really concerns me:

Office 2016 cannot coexist on the same computer as standalone Office 2013 applications.

If you choose Install Anyway, the Office 2013 applications will be uninstalled, and you won’t be able to reinstall them again on the same computer.

WHAT??!!!???

So I need to have access to standalone SharePoint Designer 2013  application as that is what I have built all the existing Workflows in SharePoint on. Also would like to still have access to InfoPath 2013 as have built many forms in SP

MS has no plans on building anything similar going forward. Would have to be 3^rd^ party tools, which can be costly.

What Does MS community suggest as a workaround? The obvious answer is don't upgrade to Office 2016 but at some point that will be inevitable.

So let me get this straight... MS did not release SPD 2016 so you have to continue to use 2013 (failure one).  However, SPD behaves as part of the Office suite and not a stand alone application (failure two).  Because of this, you can't install SPD if you have Office 2016 (failure three), because it simply fails to install due to an error without telling you what that error is or why it occured (failure four).  There is some indication that MAYBE you can get the 32 bit versions of these products to live together but not 64 bit and certainly not mixed bit (failures five and six except they rather extend from failure two).

Pretty terrible Microsoft.  I shouldn't have to have a separate computer just to do Sharepoint design.  This is NOT what the enterprise looks like.

There is a standalone version of InfoPath 2013 that works with Office 2016, so no panic there. Someone else may know more about the SD part.

I was not able to get SharePoint 2013 installed with my existing install of Office 2016. So I ended up using a separate virtual machine to run SharePoint Designer 2013 and also moved InfoPath 2013 there. Bit of a pain but at least no conflicts now.

Hi, Were you able to find a resolution to co-existing office 2016 and Sharepoint Design 2013?

    Thanks,

After getting a new machine at work with Office 2016 I was concerned about not being able to use InfoPath 2013 and SharePoint Designer 2013. I installed InfoPath 2013 version for Office 365 ProPlus and it seems to work fine so far so that's great! However, I have not found a solution for SharePoint Designer 2013 to date. I am hesitant to try and just install the regular download on top of Office 2016 in case it causes wider issues. Still looking for a solution for SharePoint Designer 2013 with Office 2016 and wondering if anyone else has had any success getting install both on the same machine?
