Text box stuck to left-alignment

When I try to use a text box, the text is right-aligned no matter if I try to left-align it or make the margins zero in the format-shape options. I have a MacBook Pro so microsoft word for Mac.

As a result, labels inside of text boxes disappear off the right edge of the box when I try to shrink the text box, and will not fit onto figures inside my thesis.

The help/support page instructions have not helped.

This is just a guess, but when you create a text box, please check the Format>Paragraph menu from the OS X menu at the top of your screen. An excessively large left indent (called Before text: in the dialog) can appear similar to a right-aligned paragraph. If that is not the issue, that same dialog should enable you to change the paragraph settings. After you get it right, right-click on the text box border and choose Set as Default Text Box to make the settings permanent.

    Hi Erica,

Per my understanding, the issue seems to be that the text box can’t be changed to left-aligned.

To understand your specific situation, please provide information below. some related screenshots would be preferred.

    1. What does “labels inside of text boxes” refer to? And what about “not fit onto figures”?
    2. Does this issue occur to all documents?
    3. Create a new document, does the issue occur?
    4. What is your Office version number and Mac OS version? Please refer to What Office Version am I using.

    Thanks,

    Rena
