Backup and Restore for o365 Exchange Online

Hello we are now in Exchange 2010 Hybrid with Exchange online.  We moved about 130 mailboxes to o365.

We have commvault backing up on-premise mailboxes.  We worked with commvault on connecting to Exchange online and have backup running.  The issue is its extremely slow.  It looks like MS is throttling the connection from commvault and we are only getting 2-4mb/sec for backup, which isn't acceptable.

Does Microsoft have any solution for backup/restore or can they increase accesss on their end, so backups complete faster?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Cuttabutta,

No, we have no official article about the bandwidth throttling policy in Exchange Online with commvault or the method to increase it. Thanks for your understanding.

Here is the article for your reference:

https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/exchangedev/2011/06/23/exchange-online-throttling-and-limits-faq/

Note: the command in the above article doesn’t apply to Exchange Online anymore.

Based on my experience, the downloading speed in Exchange Online cannot be that slow. It should be related to your network performance or the software itself. Given the situation, I suggest you contact the software support for dedicated assistance.

Thanks,

Robert

    Hi Cuttabutta,

No. Third party solutions are not supported here.

    Thanks,

Thank you.  Does Microsoft have any built-in office365 solution for backup and recovery or recommend any 3rd party for backup/recovery of exchange online mailboxes.  So far what litigation hold is the only option.

    thanks,
