Set default paste in MS Word 2016 for Mac?

With MS Word for Windows, I can go to Options and set the default paste to "Keep Source Formatting" or "Match Destination Styles." How come I can't set the default paste in MS Word for Mac under Preferences (or anywhere else)?

Michael, thank you for your reply. I knew about both of those options, but they are way too inefficient for such a commonly used paste. I will submit feedback on Word for Mac Uservoice as you suggest. In the meantime, I have found a workaround by going into Mac Preferences, Keyboard, Shortcuts, and adding the following App Shortcut to Microsoft Word: "Paste and Match Formatting" mapped to COMMAND-V.

Hopefully this temporary solution can help other users out.

The PC version is Making you work too hard.

Just go to Edit menu after doing a Copy.

Then scroll down to Paste and Match Formatting there is even a Key combo you can use.

    ⌥⇧⌘V

It seems awkward it's a combination of Shift-Option-Command-V which if you look at the keyboard you can use one finger on each hand to press.

Phillip, thank you for your reply. I already knew about both of those options, however. The first is inefficient, and the second is incredibly awkward on a Windows keyboard (and even on a Mac--it's just way too many buttons to push for such a commonly used paste).

    Hi Bathomasson,

The feature to set default paste options is only available in Windows version of Office 2016.

You can click on Paste Options if you want to keep the formatting or paste only the text on your Word 2016 for Mac. Or on Edit, check the shortcut keys available for the paste option you want.

With this, I suggest you submit your feedback on our Word for Mac Uservoice, as this is the best way to influence our products.

    Thanks,

    Mike
